In order to get more visitors to your site you need links, this much we know.

You also need link text that is relevant to your site. Some people aren't aware of this.

A great way to get relevant link text is via Article Underground by the way.

Anchor text is soooo important. If you can get a link to your site from another and you get the chance to pick the text that you want in the link - take it! In other words a link like this make money online at home is better than http://www.the-complete-guide.com because I am trying to rank for the phrase "make money online at home". Make sense?

But get this…

You should also vary your link text to the same page. If you have the same link text pointing to the same page over and over again Google are going to think "hmmmm, this ain't natural - this guy is clearly trying to rank for this phrase in an unnatural fashion!"

Now Google may be a pain, but… they mean well.

Anyway, here's a great tip. Get ideas for link text from your statistics.

People will find your site via all kinds of phrases that you may not even have thought you ranked for. Use these ideas and rank well for these phrases.

You may be on the 3rd page of Google for your main key phrase, but you may be on page 1 (position 9) for a longer key phrase. Why not get to number 1 for this phrase by using the power of link text? Go for it…
