Hey folks, sorry I've been away from the blog for a few days - problems with my love life, but enough about me, what you really want to know is how to build a definitive, cash guzzling beast of an authority site which will carry on earning for you as long as you like.
Well, here's how I do it, just remember this is a slow and steady method that won't begin earning straight away but which will get you earning long into the future.
Pick a niche - I won't bore you too much with this, but you can now use the new Google Trends service which supposedly shows you the top 100 most popular searches. Pick a term that you're interested in and then drill down in the niche until you find one that has a decent number of searches and low competition. I use Niche Inspector for this stage.
Now I've got my market I need a site and content for that site. I use XSitePro but now I'm mainly using Wordpress and a deluxe theme called Semiologic Pro for clean SEO friendly sites.
Don't put any ads on your site until it's indexed and contains some decent content.
Do keyword research for your niche. I still use Wordtracker just because it's the easiest to use and the best. I tried Keyword Elite but I just couldn't get a handle on it.
So you should have a "shell" for your site and a list of 100 to 1000 keyword phrases. Start writing a few articles or preferably outsource them. I use Guru - just beware that there are a few cowboys out there and that cheapest isn't necessarily best!
That's enough for this post (I get bored easily) get researching and I'll be back shortly with the next stage…
