Do You Have Chronic Learning Syndrome?
This may turn into a bit of a rant…hold tight!
I see this all the time.
It happens with folks I deal with and it;s rampant all over the forums. I wonder if you're the same?
…and yep, I was a victim too.
It's called Chronic Learning Syndrome and it's a trap nearly all internet marketers fall into.
Thing is, they don't realize that dragging themselves out of this hole is the difference between "making it" online and remaining in their day jobs.
Just answer me these questions…
Do you buy ebooks, skim over them and think "ah, I'll read that properly later"?
Do you spend hours in forums procrastinating and then… when a new idea comes along…chase after it, your tongue practically dragging along the floor, imagining the new wealth that'll be yours when you follow this shiny new system?
Do you also have the sneaky suspicion that if you'd stuck with that site you started 3 years ago insetad of jumping from scheme to scheme…you may actually be raking it in right now?
You're probably nodding right now and to be honest, if you're an internet marketer and you don't answer yes to at least one of those questions…you're probabaly in denial.
The great joy of the net is that a ton of info is available at the click of a button.
Unfortuantely this is also a double edged sword because it means you so easily lose focus.
Here's one tip to start regaining some focus and actually make some progress…
Shut off your damn email!
Or at least just force yourself to check it once every 3 days.
You will be amazed at how your productivity increases if you're not checking email every minute of the day.
Think of email as your reward for finising a project, submitting an article or getting a bunch of new link partners.
Whatever it takes but…for the sake of your business…snap out of this chronic learning syndrome.
It's fatal to the life of your online biz.
NB: That doesn't mean you should stop reading this blog of course!

Hey, have you been spying on me or something? lol
Seriously though, it's really easy to just keep reading and reading and never actually do something! Nice bit of advice… not promising it'll stop me browsing around when I should be focused though!
Oh and just wanted to say that it's nice to have a site that is written by someone in the UK, don't get me wrong, the US sites and advice can be awesome, it's just nice to hear from someone on your own side of the pond doing well with it!
All the best
Alex
Hi Alex,
Thanks for your comment, another Brit - hurrah!
I think we all have to keep learning and reading just to keep on top of things, but if you can keep that in moderation…well, that makes a big difference to your results.

Hi,
Yes, I nodded my head to almost everything you said!
I am making moves to solve or limit the email checking
and reading problem. Just this past week, I've unsubscribed
from a number of lists. I find there's a lot of repetition
anyhow. This fact really came home to me after I received
a basket of emails all promoting the new "Google Nemesis"
system!
So, now, I've focused my activities on those things that
will move me forward — for instance, my newsletter and
list building.
Best regards,
Laurie
Hey Laurie,
Good to hear from you.
Yes I got a load of Nemesis stuff too. It's the same old, same old. Actually, I'm sure it's good, but do you really need it? We all on this blog know enough already, it's just a matter of doing it!
I like your site and blog Laurie. You have a good PR there too, you've obviously done some quality link building. I've signed up to your newsletter

Here here!!
Totally agree. I started about 3 years ago, then gave up last summer. I was spending hours and was only earning $3 a day. A whole quid 50(yup another brit) I had another look this jan and my site is still earning $3 without touching things. The big change google did in June has screwed things for me, but there might be some glimmers at the end of that tunnel.
Focus is definitely the key, I've been trying to do this and it is paying off I've been seeing a steady growth each month of around 20-25% in adsense earnings, until June that is. Which is the way to go, there is no easy solution, just a steady growth.
Hi Dave,
Yeah, it can sure be gutting when all your efforts yield just a few dollars.
Thing is, what you might not realize is that you now have a base you can build from. I mean, you're obviously getting traffic, it's easy to grow that traffic with more content and links.
Mail me your site (or is it the one in your sig?) at thecompleteguide "at" gmail.com and I'll see if I can come up with some suggestions if you like?

Oh yeah, that's me to a T. I have about 7000 emails right now and have finally decided to delete almost everything and start over. I have downloaded tons of free guides, courses & info etc. I have a few web sites, but don't really know what to do next. If I took the time to read all the courses, watch all the videos, it would be a much better use of my time. Thanks for the wake up call.
