We're In The Business Of Selling
It seems to me, everyone is getting real worried about Google's new Universal Search whereby we'll have to deal with the possibility of video searches appearing above our natural page results in the search listings.
That coveted number one postiion that you've worked so hard to attain could be instantly devalued by the promise of a shiny new video towering above your "so 2006 darling" meagre text entry.
I say don't worry.
Yes, SEO is important and I spend time on it, but really, we should be in the business of creating and selling products. If you want to make money on the net, you have to sell something. Yes, there are some (extremely) pleasant distracions in the form of adsense et al but if you want to build a business, you need to launch product after product.
And when you have a host of products with high converting sales pages - you don't have to worry about ranking number one in Google. You feed off the sites already ranking No. 1 in Google.
If you've got a great product simply contact these site owners, tell them you can make the a great deal of money and ask if they'll carry a link or banner ad on their site, linking to yours (via their affiliate link of course).
Spend your time working on copywriting, product creation and build relationships with others in your niche. If you try to stay on top of the search results, you're doomed to a rollercoaster ride of highs and (mainly) lows. Work smarter, not harder.
